How to Install a Ceiling Misting Fan on a Covered Patio

What do I need before I start the install?

A complete DIY system is three parts: the Luxaire Ceiling Misting Fan itself, a matching high-pressure pump, and the setup kit. The fan mounts into a covered patio roof and runs on standard 110V power.

The setup kit ($249) includes the high-pressure line, stainless anti-drip nozzles, brass fittings, and mounting hardware, so you are not chasing parts at the hardware store. The pump sizes to how many fans you run, so confirm that before you buy.

How do I mount the fan into the patio roof?

Find a solid ceiling joist or beam in the covered patio to carry the weight, then secure the mounting bracket with the included hardware. A ceiling fan needs a rated support, not just decking, so locate real structure before you drill.

Once the bracket is anchored, hang the powder-coated housing, connect the downrod or flush mount, and level it. The Luxaire housing is outdoor-rated and powder-coated, so it is built to live outside in Arizona sun and dust.

How is the fan wired and switched?

The fan runs on 110V, the same standard circuit most covered patios already have. Connect it to a switched outlet or hardwire it to a wall switch following local code.

The Luxaire includes a remote and wall-switch option plus a multi-white LED light, so you can control fan speed, misting, and lighting without extra parts. If you are not comfortable with line-voltage wiring, this is the step worth handing to an electrician or to our install crew.

How do I connect the pump, line, and water?

Mount the high-pressure pump in a shaded, accessible spot near an outlet and the water source. Run the high-pressure line from the pump up to the fan's integrated 1/4 inch misting ring and secure the stainless anti-drip nozzles with the brass fittings.

Connect the pump inlet to a garden-hose water source and plug it into 110V. The pump boosts house water to 1000 PSI, which is what atomizes the water into a fine, dry fog. The anti-drip nozzles hold pressure so the line does not dribble when the system shuts off.

Should I install it myself or hire a pro?

If you are comfortable mounting a ceiling fan and making basic plumbing connections, the complete fan, pump, and kit is a true DIY system and the instructions walk you through it.
