The two ways to add misting to a fan

There are really two paths. The first is a low-pressure kit that taps a garden hose and runs a ring of nozzles around the fan. It is cheap and simple, but at normal tap pressure the droplets are large, so they fall and leave surfaces and people wet rather than cool.

The second is a true high-pressure setup, where a pump pressurizes the water to 1000 PSI and pushes it through fine nozzles that atomize it into a dry fog. This is the version that actually cools well in Arizona's dry heat and stays dry to the touch, but it requires more than just a hose.

What a high-pressure add-on requires

To get real cooling on an existing fan you need the same core parts as any high-pressure system: a misting pump, high-pressure line, quality nozzles, and fittings rated for 1000 PSI. A misting setup kit provides the high-pressure line, stainless anti-drip nozzles, brass fittings, and mounting hardware, and the pump connects to 110V power and a garden-hose water source.

The catch is that a standard outdoor fan is not designed to have a high-pressure ring mounted to it, so mounting the nozzles cleanly and keeping the line tidy can be fiddly. It works, but it is more of a project than bolting on a hose kit.
