Why Is My Misting System Leaking, and How Do I Fix It?

Where do misting systems usually leak?

High-pressure systems run at 1000 PSI, so any weak point in a connection will eventually seep. The most common spots are threaded fittings, nozzle seats, the pump connections, and along the line where it may have been kinked or sun-damaged.

Work through them in order. Run the system, watch where water actually beads or sprays sideways, and mark each spot before you shut down. Chasing the visible drips first saves you from guessing.

How do I fix a leaking fitting or connection?

Why is a nozzle dripping after the system shuts off?

A nozzle that dribbles when the pump stops usually has a failed anti-drip check valve or a worn seal. Anti-drip nozzles are designed to hold pressure between cycles so the line does not empty out onto your patio.

Swapping in fresh stainless anti-drip nozzles fixes post-shutoff dripping. In Arizona, mineral buildup from hard water is a common culprit, so cleaning or replacing affected nozzles restores a clean, dry shutoff.

What if the line itself is cracked or leaking?

Years of Phoenix sun can make cheaper tubing brittle, and a sharp kink creates a stress point that eventually splits. If you find a cracked section, cut it out and splice in new high-pressure line with proper fittings.
